Hill Jr. Library, serving the main campus, combines the best of tradition and innovation, housing special collections and a beautiful gallery alongside vibrant, experiential spaces for making, digital media creation, data analysis and visualization, and collaboration. Three branch libraries focus on design, natural resources, and veterinary medicine.

The Operations, Logistics, & Environments (OLE) department (9 staff members), provides building maintenance, operational support, resource management, and event/exhibit assistance for the D. H. Hill Jr. Library, James B. Hunt Jr. Library, and Administrative Services Annex (ASX), with some of these services extended to the three branch libraries (Design, Natural Resources, and Veterinary Medicine). Collectively, these library spaces welcome over 2.1 million visitors per year, and OLE staff ensure that they are always clean, safe, and well maintained.
Essential Job Duties
The Director of Operational Project Management oversees all aspects of facilities operations and maintenance for the NC State University Libraries, including the physical facilities of the D.H. Hill Jr. Library, the Administrative Services Annex (processing and storage of special collections materials), and the James B. Hunt Jr. Library, to provide a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment.

The position supervises staff, manages a departmental budget, leads work teams, participates in strategic and operational planning, and oversees the work of contractors in a variety of trades. They serve as a key liaison to NC State Building Maintenance & Operations and other university safety- and facilities-related units. They manage a variety of repair and renovation projects and oversee the operations and maintenance of the automated materials storage and retrieval system (bookBot) at the Hunt Library, communicating frequently with numerous internal and external colleagues. They serve as security/access coordinator for Libraries buildings and oversee support for frequent special events, programs, and exhibits. The position reports to the Associate Director for Learning Spaces & Capital Management.

The position deeply considers how their approach to their daily work reflects and advances the Libraries’ Strategic Plan, creating an environment and community that is welcoming for both patrons and colleagues alike. The incumbent may have the opportunity to serve on Libraries-wide committees, task forces, and teams. This position is based in Raleigh, North Carolina, on the campus of NC State University. The Libraries supports flexible work arrangements with the expectation that this position will spend a majority of time onsite.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in the trade(s) areas assigned; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Other Required Qualifications
Ability to oversee and coordinate a wide variety of facility maintenance operational, diagnostic, and repair services
Ability to prioritize activities and tasks and to communicate priorities to staff
Ability to develop alternative plans to meet changing conditions and ensure timely project and task accomplishment
Relevant customer service experience
Supervisory experience
Ability to foster an environment of belonging and well-being
Ability to engage and collaborate with a large organization and user community reflecting a variety of backgrounds and disciplines
Ability to communicate clearly and knowledgeably
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of the mission and goals of higher education and libraries as they relate to facilities operations and services
Experience with supporting technology-intensive spaces along with their ongoing enhancements and upgrades
Required License(s) or Certification(s)
A valid North Carolina driver’s license must be obtained within 60 days of start date and must be maintained as a condition of employment.
