The Department of Early Childhood, Youth, and Family Studies at Ball State University seeks a tenure-track assistant professor in early childhood to begin January 2, 2025. The successful applicant will be interested in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in our early childhood education program, graduate certificates, transition to teaching program; have a research program that will complement current research interests in the department and that can involve both undergraduate and graduate students; contribute to the service activities of the department and discipline; and have an on campus presence. While applicants from any area of early childhood education or related fields are welcome to apply, special consideration will be given to applicants who have a specialization in the areas of math, science, social studies, early literacy, policy/advocacy/social justice, or community engagement.

Job Function:

Minimum Experience:

  • Doctorate degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Eligible for, holds, or has held a teaching license
  • At least one semester (four months) experience teaching in an early learning environment such as an elementary school or childcare center.

Preferred Experience:

  • Content specialization in one or more of the following areas: science, math, social studies, early literacy, policy/advocacy/ social justice, community engagement
  • Track record of peer-reviewed publications and presentations at professional conferences in applicant’s area of specialization
  • Demonstrated interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in multiple modalities (e.g., face-to-face, online, blended)
  • Experience supervising practicum and student teaching
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor students from diverse backgrounds
