POSITION SUMMARY:
This professional position provides financial and budget analysis, projections, examines variances, reconciles accounts, assist with management of fiscal resources at the college and its units (e.g. Florida Center for Nursing). This position will be responsible for P-card, travel, and purchasing.
The Fiscal and Business Analyst will provide financial information through budget projections and financial forecasting (e.g., expected cash flow, anticipated revenue or income) to help in financial planning, identifying trends in departmental spending, etc. Positions in this job class develop financial reports, statements, and spreadsheets for use by management in determining current and future financial position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as part of a team of fiscal & business personnel with responsibility for the appropriate accounting of E&G, grants and faculty overhead, start ups, and research incentive, convenience, USF Foundation accounts associated with the College. This position provides coordination and management of accounting and budgeting for all account types within the College of Nursing.
Resolves specific fiscal and accounting problems and disseminates information regarding university financial policies applicable to college operations, policy and procedures. Responsible for interpreting, facilitating, and implementing the accepted University accounting policies applicable within the College of Nursing. Recommends, developing and/or implementing policies and procedures to effectively administer all types of financial accounts. This job also ensures that financial activities are in compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations.
Reviews FAST/DataMart financial reports and communicates with faculty and staff regarding various funding issues to determine appropriate payroll expenditure transfers, payroll distribution, and salary changes. Reconciling, providing projections, generating what if scenarios, tracking expenditures and ensuring sufficient funds are available to cover all costs associated with these accounts.
Perform analytical analysis of departmental financial statements, including review of budget to actuals/variance analysis. Prepares and develops financial projections/forecasts, what if scenarios, financial reports, statements, and spreadsheets to consolidate financial activities, which are utilized by management. Prepares and develops financial projections/forecasts . Works with management on financial planning, data gathering, and reporting for various accounts. Will perform or serve as direct backup for all P-card, Purchasing and Travel related duties.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or other field directly related to the position's specific responsibilities and two years of fiscal related work experience; or a Bachelor's degree in no specific required field and three years of fiscal related work experience; or five years fiscal related work experience
PREFERRED:
Familiar with GEMS (PeopleSoft), FAST, Finance Mart, Banner, and other university applications. Knowledge of principles and practices of budgeting and finance including the analysis and generating reporting data. Please upload cover letter and resume combined in PDF form.
