ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY: The University Communications and Marketing (UCM) department on the Sarasota-Manatee campus is responsible for strategic and tactical campus-level communications and marketing. The department operates in partnership with the Office of the Regional Chancellor and corresponding units of the Senior Leadership Team for the fulfillment of marketing and communications services to support campus goals and objectives. The department provides local content and expertise to the UCM organization in support of USF goals and objectives, and to position the visibility and understanding (distinctiveness) of the Sarasota-Manatee campus.

POSITION SUMMARY: The position works in close partnership with the Director of Communications and Marketing to develop and implement strategic plans to accomplish short-term and long-range objectives. The person in this role supervises exempt and non exempt employees, and is responsible for project management and a variety of marketing functions, including oversight of branding, advertising campaigns, graphic design, publications productions, website development and maintenance, video productions, photography, social media content (organic and paid campaigns), campus digital content and compiles and delivers analytics reports and insights.
The associate director will oversee the design, proofreading and editing of marketing and communications collateral, presentations and videos. The person will serve as a representative on various working teams and committees throughout the university.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage members of the Communications and Marketing Team - Day-to-day oversight of campus level members of the communications and marketing team to meet deadlines and drive content.

Marketing Campaigns and Project Management - act as the intake point with campus departments for marketing requests and make recommendations on best approach / use of channels to achieve desired engagement. Track and manage marketing campaigns from inception to completion in the project management system; coordinate with all UCM team members to ensure all areas of the campaign are completed.

Creative and Brand Oversight - Oversee graphic design and branding assets for all marketing and communications through supervision of the team and knowledge of tools and trends.

Digital Marketing and Advertising - Oversee the organic and paid social media and digital marketing strategies; coordinate and manage advertising needs including, content and creative creation, distribution, deadlines and budget, maximizing ROI by conducting regular assessment of content strategy.

Strategic Consultation - Work in partnership with the Director and members of the Senior Leadership Team to shape the direction of campus-level communications and marketing to achieve desired goals in enrollment, student-engagement, research and innovation, advancement, community relations and campus culture. Leverages analytics to report on performance of marketing campaigns and assess goals.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM: Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, digital media or related field required, and a minimum of 5 years exempt experience working in a team-oriented communications and marketing office or agency setting. 2 years of experience managing exempt level employees; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills: Strong project and staff management skills; excellent writing ability, graphic design and website management skills; experience developing and managing social media content and advertising campaigns.

PREFERRED: Experience working in higher education or an advertising agency that works with higher education clients. Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, e-mail marketing, various website content management systems and social media platforms.
