Department of Molecular and Translational Medicine
Center of Emphasis in Cancer

The Department of Molecular and Translational Medicine in the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso is accepting applications from highly qualified clinician-scientists or scientists for a Faculty position in the Center of Emphasis in Cancer (CoEC).

Researchers in the CoEC focus on performing basic, clinical, and translational research to study endocrine-related cancers and cancers prevalent in the local population, and to identify molecular mechanisms using cutting-edge technologies. Current research addresses the role of various genes in breast cancer development, hormone replacement therapy in post-menopausal women and the associated risk of breast cancer, and the role of progesterone in the promotion of breast cancer. Our faculty is also instrumental in training the next generation of biomedical research scientists through the TTUHSC El Paso L. Frederick Francis Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.

Minimum Qualifications:
• M.D., or an equivalent degree, Ph.D. in the field of biomedical sciences, or M.D.-Ph.D.
• Experience in teaching graduate and medical students
• Record of accomplishment in social and cultural risk factors and prevention of chronic diseases
• Minimum of three (3) years of post-doctoral experience in biomedical sciences or related area
• A continuous publication record in peer-reviewed journals
• For physician applicants who wish to engage in clinical practice: Board certification by an ABMS member board and a full, unrestricted Texas medical license (or eligibility for licensure)

Preferred Qualifications:
• Track record of sustained success in extramural grant funding
• Emerging or established national or international reputation for the rank of associate professor or higher
• Scientific expertise and interest in one or more of the following areas: cancer development and progression of bacterial or viral cancer, pathogenesis, experimental therapeutics, cancer biomarkers, cancer genomics and proteomics
