The Department of Chemistry in the Gupta College of Science at Coastal Carolina University (https://www.coastal.edu/chem/) invites applications for a lecturer position beginning Fall 2025. The Department of Chemistry is home to approximately 85 undergraduate majors and three degrees: Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Chemistry Education. As a department, we focus on our commitment to student success and are seeking a proficient teacher who is dedicated to the undergraduate experience. The successful candidate must be able to teach lower-level chemistry lectures and labs (Chem 111 and Chem 112). The position carries a 5/5 teaching load and is a renewable 9-month appointment with ability to work toward promotion to senior lecturer and then principal lecturer. Applicants must, at a minimum, have earned a M.S. in Chemistry but preference will be given to someone with a Ph.D. in Chemistry or closely related fields.

As one of the largest colleges at the University, the Gupta College of Science offers an impressive array of 13 distinctive undergraduate degree programs, 15 focused concentrations, and 18 minors along with two master's degree programs and one doctoral program. The college is committed to providing our students and faculty with cutting-edge scientific equipment, instrumentation, and marine vessels for both teaching and research purposes. In total, the college has nine different marine vessels, which includes a 54-ft. aluminum vessel with an A-frame. The Burroughs and Chapin Center for Marine and Wetland Studies within the Gupta College of Science also offers the potential for collaboration with faculty engaged in related coastal and marine research issues. The University manages the Waites Island Anne Tilghman Boyce Coastal Reserve, an undeveloped complex of ocean frontage, fresh and saltwater marshes, tidal creeks, and upland forests, that provides a living laboratory for both teaching and research opportunities.
