What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a High-Risk Embedded Security Professional to serve as an Alternate Special Security Officer (ASSO) and/or IOSC Program Lead in the FIE Special Security Office. The selected candidate will work with the FIE Special Security Officer (SSO) and other FIE security personnel to provide support and guidance on high security matters to FIE staff and management.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Interpret federal laws, regulations, and other requirements for Intelligence Community (IC), U.S Department of Energy (DOE) and other high-risk security environments.
- Interpret information and provide guidance of security requirements including advising management and recommending actions regarding issues.
- Maintain current knowledge of security standards.
- Support one or more Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF).
- Track, trend and analyze data.
- Conduct security related briefings.
- Maintain relevant records.
- Process and/or respond to reports, requests and questions from members of the SCI community.
- Conduct inquiries into potential Incidents of Security Concern (IOSC).
- Carry a pager and respond to security matters outside of normal working hours.
Due to the nature of the role, this candidate must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range:
$70,200 - $135,400
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate\'s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Security, Criminology, Cyber, IT, Political Science, Sociology or related, or equivalent experience (AS + 4 or no degree +8)
- Active DOE Q (or equivalent) security clearance
- Ability to acquire and maintain SCI access, which requires polygraph testing
Qualifications We Desire:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively work in a team environment and interact with all levels of staff and management
- Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternatives and recommending solutions to problems affecting security
- Understanding of various security-related DOE Orders, Intelligence Community Directives and/or Sandia policies
- Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and follow through to completion on multiple tasks, often under strict deadlines, frequent interruptions and changing priorities
- Experience as an Inquiry Official
- Experience as a Derivative Classifier
- Demonstrated ability to properly handle classified or sensitive information
- Active SCI clearance
About Our Team:
The Field Intelligence Element (FIE) performs high-impact, national security work for a broad segment of the Intelligence Community (IC). The FIE Special Security Office protects the information of our customers by providing a secure environment that allows Sandia to deliver products and services that protect our nation\'s security. The FIE Special Security Office is responsible for interpretation and oversight of security requirements, to include physical security, access controls, facility accreditation, incident investigation, and clearance management.

Security Clearance:
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
