What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a Team Lead for the Purchased Product Value Stream 3 (PPVS3) Sub-Org for Receipt, Inspection, and Delivery. This R&D Team Lead will manage a team of technologists and Metal Trades Council represented Grade 8 Neutron Generator Material Coordinators and ensure execution of work to provide outstanding quality service to our customers without interruption.

On any given day this Team Lead will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing a portion of the non-exempt work force in PPVS3, specifically the technologists and the material coordinator team, who conduct the daily activity level operations related to product receipt, inspection, stocking, and delivery
  • Management of this set of the workforce includes coordinating specific deliverables (stocking material on time to avoid customer stoppages and ensure inventory goal levels are met, coordinating inspections, ensuring no stoppages due to our processes), overall team goals (decreasing total amount of open lots, participating and leading other documented goals within, ensuring safety and security compliance is met), budgets ( Procurements closures managed), structures (ensuring compliance to RPPs and quality standards), schedules (meeting production schedules, comparing daily plan versus actuals), and staffing requirements (hiring to timeliness goals set by HR).
  • Conducting other general supervisory duties such as timesheets should be approved weekly, monitoring team trainings so they can be done on time, and ensuring approvals for training date changes
  • Ensuring that POs (Purchase Orders) are actively reviewed, decisions taken place on a weekly basis, performance engagement and REPEPs (Represented Perfomance) are also completed for all applicable MOW
  • Ensuring that the work of this team is done in compliance with quality standards, accuracy requirements, and timeliness in alignment with our customer expectations. For example, the receiving cell activities require daily direction setting for work planning to include a daily plan versus actual, with individual assignments to be drafted by receiving cell technologist. Other examples being that the material coordinators are to deliver materials within 48 hours of request, should build kits on time per their build schedule, and should conduct cycle counts are to take place weekly. As a team goal our Inventory accuracy should remain above 97% and the team lead should be knowledgeable in resolution of inventory discrepancies as they may occur.
  • Coordinating effective communication between the team, support organizations, and customers.
  • Promoting effective engineered safety and security which are critical to successful operations as is adherence to Sandia policies, manuals, and processes.
  • Demonstrating a strong organizational commitment to Lean Six Sigma as a continuous improvement methodology and high rigor with respect to all operations.
  • Helping to manage a broad safety and security envelope that includes high risk materials (explosives, classified, chemicals, precious metals, radioactive materials), facilities, and physical activity level operations.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$127,900 - $217,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate\'s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline plus five or more years of directly related experience or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • Equivalent experience in lieu of degrees must be engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development
  • Active DOE Q security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Two or more years of managerial/leadership experience.
  • Experience with inventory management & logistics systems or Supply Chain systems.
  • Experience working with SNL suppliers, inspection houses, and internal production agencies.
  • Knowledge of production storage requirements and safe guards.
  • Demonstrated track record of customer satisfaction with respect to cost, performance, and schedule.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage and complete multiple programs/projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to team with others to produce successful outcomes.
  • Demonstrated flexible and adaptable approach to changing needs, requirements, and circumstances.
  • Experience managing high difficulty operations and/or high consequence work activities (quality/security /safety) including hazardous material handling, explosives, and radiological materials.
  • Experience managing secure spaces (e.g. VTRs).
  • Experience with Nuclear Deterrence (ND) Product Realization Process (PRP).
  • Familiarity with the Neutron Generator Enterprise and/or knowledge of design agency and production agency roles and responsibilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to interact well with a diverse set of employees (MTC, Technologists, Engineers, Planners).
  • Demonstrated managerial skills: development and execution of a strategic vision; mentor and lead an organization/team on goals and objectives; effectively recruit, hire, and lead people; and guide a team with diverse education and experience.
  • Experience managing union employees or other relevant experience working with trade unions.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodology, demonstrated through Green or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems, Audits, and Assessments.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of safety, security, problem solving, continuous improvement, and teamwork

About Our Team:

The Purchased Product Value Stream Department (PPVS-III), Organization 7561, oversees production stores and materials operations that support Center 7500 Component Science, Engineering, & Production activities. We are a team composed of a diverse set of roles and responsibilities that works together to help ensure our customers success. The department assures the integrity and traceability of production material through receiving, incoming acceptance, warehousing, inventory management, material movement, and shipping. PPVS-III works in a high-consequence operational envelope encompassing classified materials, precious metals, closed areas, chemicals, explosives, and radiological materials.

PPVS-III is also responsible for the design, development, testing, and delivery of Department of Transportation (DOT) compliant packaging solutions, operations engineering, planning for the build of packaging kits and neutron generator disassembly activities, and overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of outbound customer shipments. PPVS-III will also be responsible for managing a team of Industrial Engineers that provide expertise in the areas of simulation modeling, capacity analyses, optimization, flow, and layout design, to the 7560 Product Delivery Value Streams. The R&D Team lead of Organization 7561-1 will oversee the non-exempt receipt, inspection, and delivery elements of the PPVS-III department.
