Responsibilities
Teaching load is typically one introductory undergraduate course and one upper-level or graduate course in an area of specialization per year. While appointments are expected to be made at the Assistant Professor level, candidates recently promoted or anticipating promotion prior to the anticipated starting date of this position may be considered at the Associate Professor level.



Successful candidates are expected to establish nationally recognized research programs addressing fundamental questions in biology and to be effective teachers and mentors to undergraduate and graduate students. The department and university have many resources to enable success, including competitive start-up, excellent facilities, opportunities for internal research funding, core facilities in computation, sequencing, microscopy, among others, and the Center for Empowering Teaching Excellence.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Biology or closely related field
Research: A strong record of publications in peer-reviewed journals, demonstrating expertise in molecular and cellular biology or closely aligned field. Demonstrated ability to secure funding. A well-defined research plan that aligns with the job description and can attract graduate students.
Teaching and Mentoring: Teaching experience at the university level and/or formal pedagogical training. Demonstrated ability to successfully mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research projects
Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Post-doctoral experience in a field related to molecular and cellular biology
Experience with interdisciplinary research and/or participation in multi-investigator grants or collaborative research projects
Proficiency in advanced or emerging methodologies
Previous leadership experience, such as heading a research team or organizing conferences.
Experience with innovative teaching methods or technologies
Experience in science communication to non-specialist audiences or involvement in community outreach programs
Potential for synergy or collaboration with current faculty members or other faculty on campus
