Job Description

Summary

The Britton Laboratory is seeking a research assistant to perform research and leadership duties in the area of therapeutic microbiology. Previous experience in microbiology and mouse research is required. The ideal candidate will work within multiple projects that aim to translate microbiome research into products that diagnose, prevent, and/or treat disease. Experience with basic molecular biology techniques is preferred.

Job Duties

  • Will propagate microbes and study their impacts in various preclinical models including mice and organoids.
  • Be responsible for maintaining microbiology lab equipment and mouse colonies.
  • Will train new lab members in safety and basic microbiology and mouse handling skills.
  • Will be responsible for safety and research protocol compliance.
  • Will design, execute and perform experiments and report results directly to the principle investigator.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Previous microbiology and mouse handling is required.
