The new Department of Nursing at Providence College (also referred to as “the College” or “PC”) seeks to fill two tenure-track faculty positions to begin in the Fall 2025 semester. We are seeking applicants with teaching, research, and/or clinical practice experience in various specialties including Medical Surgical Nursing, Public/Community Health, and Maternal Newborn nursing. The successful candidates will spearhead the development of integrated didactic and experiential learning courses that will prepare undergraduate nursing students for future careers in nursing. Candidates will collaborate with other PC faculty, professional staff, and equipment vendors to establish a new state-of-the-art teaching-learning facility that is equipped with the latest instructional technologies used in nursing clinical courses, laboratories, and simulation. The successful candidates will also participate in the department’s team-taught senior seminar and capstone and the NCLEX Prep course and teach other courses in their area of interest and specialization. Nursing faculty will maintain an active scholarly agenda and contribute professional service according to the college’s expectations of tenured/pre-tenured faculty. This is an exciting and historic opportunity to join PC’s newly established School of Nursing & Health Sciences and shape an innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum for the next generation of students entering nursing. Construction is underway on the 125,000+ sq. ft state-of-the-art facility located on the PC Campus. The Ben Mondor Center for Nursing and Health Sciences will house the School of Nursing and Health Sciences and future nursing undergraduate and graduate programs in development. This facility will feature the latest classroom design and technologies and showcase expansive clinical simulation laboratories and research facilities. A student career education and advising resource center, along with conference and meeting space is also included and scheduled to open in January 2025.

Essential Duties
These two tenure-track faculty positions will report to the Chair of the Department of Nursing. Primary teaching responsibilities will be at the undergraduate level and will include the development, implementation and assessment of curriculum, student advising, service to the college, and scholarly pursuits. Faculty will collaborate with clinical and simulation faculty to establish experiential experiences, and the position may include teaching in these settings.
Education and Experience Required
Candidates with an earned doctorate and advanced professional training in the areas of Medical Surgical Nursing, Public/Community Health Nursing, or Maternal Newborn Nursing are strongly encouraged to apply. An active unencumbered license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Rhode Island or eligibility to apply for such; five years of full-time, or equivalent, professional nursing clinical experience; two years of full-time, or equivalent, teaching experience in a baccalaureate or higher degree nursing program preferred.
