The Department of Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Missouri, Columbia is seeking a full-time Assistant Technical Supervisor, beginning in August 2024. The department typically produces six shows over the academic year (including one musical) and two shows in the summer. This position will require some weekend and evening hours. Candidates will be evaluated on their scene shop experience and related skills.
Key Skills Needed;
Use of Hand tools, stationary powered tools and hand powered tools
Working knowledge of scenic construction building materials
Be able to read and interpret construction drafting plates
Knowledge of scenic construction methods and terminology
Knowledge of theatrical rigging (particularly a single purchase system)
Working with diverse groups
Attendance at technical rehearsals
Shift
Typical work schedule is 9 am to 5 pm. Nights and weekends are required as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
BA with significant experience in Theatre production or BFA with Technical Theatre emphasis
Welding and metal fabrication
Familiarity with drafting software (Vectorworks, AutoCAD)
First Aid Training or Certification
Secondary area of theatrical expertise (lighting, scenic artistry, properties)
Ability to work well with students
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary Range: $18.50 to $21.63
