Qualifications:
MSTE 327-01 - Introduction to Field Experience
In Person, Mondays from 4:45 - 6:45 PM
This course is designed to introduce prospective elementary and middle school teachers to the California Common Core State Standards for Mathematics as a foundational resource for understanding the elementary and middle school mathematics curriculum. The course will introduce candidates to the theoretical concepts, instructional methodology, and appropriate materials for use in mathematics education. It focuses on assessment, curriculum planning, and teaching techniques that promote differentiated instruction that facilitates the learning of mathematics by all students. Priority will be given to instructors who have taught it in the past.
Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Education or related field

  • 5 years of experience teaching in K-12 settings

  • Knowledge of the major theories in child development

  • Knowledge of the major theories of learning

  • Knowledge of atypical development associated with various disabilities

  • Knowledge of how K-12 children differ in their development and learning approaches to support the development and learning of individual children
