Job Purpose
The Maker Space and Lab Manager is responsible for managing the maker space, multi-purpose project labs, and teaching labs. The coordinator will support and train staff and students in their use of specialized equipment & instrumentation, manage the life cycle of equipment and ensure safety in student project lab spaces. This role combines technical expertise with strong organizational and interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative, innovative, and safe learning environment for undergraduate engineering students.

The budgeted annual salary range that the University reasonably expects to offer for this position is $49,065-$53,394 annually. The internal full salary range is $49,065 – $66,383.

Oversee the operations of the maker space, including budget, scheduling, maintenance, and inventory management.
Provide technical support and training to students and faculty on the use of maker space equipment and tools.
Develop and implement policies and procedures for maker space usage, ensuring efficient and equitable access.

Work with key faculty to manage inventory of lab equipment, tools, and supplies, ensuring everything is in working order and adequately stocked.
Develop cost estimates for equipment purchases, repairs and other lab materials
Collaborate with faculty to enhance lab curricula and integrate new technologies.
Provide support for capstone projects.

Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.

Serve as the primary coordinator for all engineering-related student clubs, assisting advisors with event planning, budgeting, and project development.
Facilitate communication between student clubs and university administration.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience with maker space tools and lab equipment.
Strong knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to engineering lab spaces.
Excellent organizational and project management skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.
Desired Qualifications
Prior experience advising student organizations or working in a higher education setting.
