Communications Assistant (Hourly)

Job Description Summary:

Assist the Vice Chancellor of College Relations & Marketing with all aspects of student communications and marketing, including research, plan development and implementation, testing, and administrative support.

Job Description:

Duties

  • Assists in the development of communication and marketing strategies targeting current and prospective students.

  • Conducts research and data collection to help identify effective messages and channels of communication.

  • Works closely with members of the Office of College Relations & Marketing and serves as a liaison with student groups and organizations.

  • Assist with content development and copywriting of marketing collateral, including handouts, digital signage, social media posts, and web content.

Knowledge

  • Principles and practices of effective copywriting and content writing

  • Strong understanding of public speaking

  • Project management

  • Familiarity with the ACC student experience

  • Interest in web U/X and digital media

Skills

  • Follows brand standards and style guidelines while providing a fresh perspective on how to reach students.

  • Works independently and within a team while meeting established deadlines.

  • Detailed-oriented, organized, and possesses excellent grasp of analytical skills.

  • Passion and desire for learning and a proactive energy for getting things done.

Technology Skills

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides).

Required Experience

  • Pursuing an associate degree or certificate

  • One year of marketing or communications experience is preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Work is routinely performed in a standard office or similar environment.

  • May be required to visit campuses.

  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.

  • Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds.

Schedule Needs

  • Work at Highland Campus/hybrid

  • Hours are flexible; 10-13 hours a week, typically Monday - Friday

Pay Rate

$22.00/hour
