Summary

The laboratory of Dr. Mingshan Xue ( https://www.bcm.edu/research/faculty-labs/mingshan-xue-lab ) in the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute (NRI) is seeking applicants for a Lab Assistant position. The Lab Assistant will work in a multi-disciplinary team to study mouse models of neurodevelopmental disorders. The job duty focuses on analysis of EEG data or fluorescence imaging data from mouse models of epilepsy.

Job Duties

  • Inspects and removes recording artifacts from the EEG data.
  • Identifiespathological events from the EEG data.
  • Classifies brain states based on EEG data.
  • Performs computational analysis of EEG signals.
  • Identifies specific cells based on protein markers from the fluorescence images.
  • Determines the overlaps between different cell-type markers.
  • Determines the numbers and locations of labeled cells from different brain regions.
  • Organizes and presents results.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Six months of relevant experience.
