Summary

The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX is recruiting for a physician scientist, Radiation Oncology position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. Physicians are anticipated to partake in all facets of the clinical care, research, and educational mission of the College. Rank and salary based upon experience. The hospital is expanding programs in breast, CNS, and gastrointestinal cancers. Candidates must have completed their residency in an ACGME-accredited radiation oncology program and/or fellowship in an accredited US training program and have a track record of excellence in clinical care and research.

Baylor has been an active part of the radiation oncology community in the Houston area for decades. Through our three current clinical partners, Baylor St Luke's Medical Center, Harris Health, and the Houston VA Hospital, we provide care to a diverse group of patients across the Houston metro area. Close ties also exist with other institutions within the Texas Medical Center. Baylor College of medicine is a premier academic medical school ranked #22 for research and #16 for primary care medical schools in the US. In both, it ranks #1 in Texas along with the highest NIH grant dollars received in Texas.

The Dan L. Duncan Cancer Center first received NCI designation 14 years ago and since then has grown and matured harboring SPORE grants in both Breast Cancer and Lymphoma as well as being home to the Human Genome Sequencing Center. It was designated an NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center in 2015. In the 2022 U.S. News and World Reports rankings The Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center at The Baylor St Luke's Hospital was listed 25th in the nation, despite being one of the youngest centers on the list.

Clinical practice for both positions will be predominantly at the Baylor St Luke's Medical Center which will be moving into a new 12-story outpatient facility at the O'Quinn Tower in January 2023 in which Radiation Oncology will have the entirety of the ground floor. Four treatment vaults will be all newly equipped with Varian TrueBeam and Edge LINACs as well as 2 Siemens wide-bore CT simulators with one located in a dedicated HDR treatment vault. A robust research enterprise is available with BCM being active members of NRG, SWOG, COG, and the Alliance.
