Summary

The Aiden lab at BCM is focused on using genomic and epigenomic data in novel ways to explore fundamental biological mechanisms. They are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic student to join our team. It would be ideal for a recent college graduate who is interested in gaining research experience in an exciting area. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in molecular methods, including HiC, while assisting with important research in fundamental biological mechanisms.

Job Duties

  • Executes experimental protocols; the technician will have some knowledge of the HiC method. HiC experiments on various samples following established protocols and maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Prepares tissue for further molecular evaluation.
  • Optimizes experimental protocols for specific applications.
  • Assists with the analysis of data, generation of figures, and interpretation of results.
  • Documents and communicates (oral and written) experimental results.
  • Assists in the collection, compilation, and analysis of literature and data
  • Assists in the preparation of laboratory reports and publications
  • Participates in lab maintenance activities as directed.
  • Records/documents experiments accurately in laboratory notebooks or electronic databases as directed
  • Works effectively with team members, share insights, and actively participate in group meetings and discussions
  • Assists in maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment
  • Adheres to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of molecular biology techniques (e.g. HiC) and laboratory procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow directions accurately.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
