Job Description
The Computer Consultant II is the single point of contact for the assigned department for all ITS needs, requests, purchase recommendations, and support covering desktop hardware and software, remote access solutions, and tablets and/or smartphones. This position is critical to the ongoing operations of Administrative Computing Services (ACS) in that it is responsible for providing elevated computer and application support.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Three (3+) plus years of relevant experience in information technologies/computer science as necessary.
Job Specific Qualifications
Specialized knowledge includes an understanding of networking, IT hardware, software and how it interacts with the operating system, printer and printing capabilities, cell technologies as they pertain supporting client devices, and mobile computing platforms
Responsibilities
Use computing concepts, documented procedures, and knowledge of SU’s systems to address a wide variety of IT support requests, including but not limited to general hardware and software break/fix and hardware and software installation.
Effectively prioritize incoming support tickets, coordinate and schedule with users, and provide cross-unit support as requested by supervisor.
Manage hardware inventory of assigned area, plan upgrade lifecycle, and work with units to replace aging equipment as necessary.
Maintain a familiarity with department’s specific settings, applications, and hardware configurations.
Interface with vendors and other 3rd parties to provide technical support and ensure systems are adhering to University policy.
Work with assigned department directors to ensure business goals are aligned with technical processes.
Identify opportunities to improve business processes through technical means.
