With growing enrollment for five consecutive years, the Director of Financial Aid will be responsible for balancing the financial needs of new and returning students with the financial needs of the institution during an exciting and transformative time for the College. The Director of Financial Aid will oversee the administration of undergraduate and graduate federal, state, and institutional financial aid. In addition to state and federal regulations governing the distribution of aid, the Director of Financial Aid will collaborate with the Enrollment and Marketing teams as well as senior leaders to help develop institutional policy for distributing that aid. Job Duties
Interpret, understand, and communicate current federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies regarding the awarding of financial aid to Senior Leadership, including the Interim Vice President for Finance, and Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing & Communications.
Exercise prudence and good judgment regarding the allocation and distribution of the financial aid budget which exceeds $30 million per year on average, which is subject to change depending on the institutional growth and financial targets of the College.
Collaborate with external aid-leveraging partners/consultants to optimize our financial aid strategies through sound decision-making and transparency.
Lead the effort of implementing our financial aid strategy and policy ensuring optimal effectiveness given institutional recruitment targets.
Strategize with Senior Leadership to ensure the College’s yearly financial aid distribution is optimized in a way that it remains competitive within the broader market.
Assess retention risks regarding current and deposited students who undergo the financial aid appeal process and problem-solve with available resources to ensure the institution completed due diligence in exhausting all possible types of available funding.
Ensure compliance with the regulations above as well as audit requirements.
Coordinate the application review and processing of aid for all eligible students.
This position directly supervises Financial Aid staff. This position is required to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Elizabethtown College’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, directing, rewarding, and disciplining individuals; appraising individual performance; and resolving complaints.
Motivate and manage a full-time financial aid staff, including training, assessment, and development.
Present financial aid information (talks, narrative, and reports) for a variety of audiences including students, parents, faculty, staff, trustees, governmental entities, media, and professional groups.
Support and enhance the mission of the institution through service on committees and task forces.
Seek innovative strategies and tactics to enhance efficiencies and effectiveness in the financial aid process.
Model customer-oriented interactions with all audiences.
Help to develop and manage the annual financial aid budget.
Maintain necessary confidentiality with respect to student, parent, and institutional information.
Work closely with other departments (e.g. Admissions, Business, Registration & Records, etc.) to ensure institutional effectiveness.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. A minimum of five years of progressive financial aid or related experience.
Strong communication skills, critical thinking skills, organizational skills, and leadership skills
Understanding of computer and database utilities.
Strong quantitative assessment skills.
Successful experience with Title IV financial aid management as well as state and institutional financial aid management.
Ability to lead and direct multiple projects in support of unit and institutional goals.
