Summary

Baylor College of Medicine and is part of the world-renowned Texas Medical Center located in Houston, Texas, which offers a highly interactive environment and a strong infrastructure for research and career development. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated scientist with expertise in cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics, and/or mouse genetics to join the laboratory of Dr. Diana Monsivais, leading an endometrial biology group in the Department of Pathology & Immunology and member of the Center for Drug Discovery at Baylor College of Medicine.

Job Duties

  • Contributes to multidisciplinary lead-finding project teams by engaging in the following state-of-the art activities: establishing endometrial stromal cell and organoid cultures from patient-derived surgical specimens;
  • Conducts mouse colony management; evaluation of fertility in genetic mouse models; histological and gene expression analyses of mouse tissues to assess reproductive function. • Evaluation of compounds for efficacy in vitro (biochemical and cell-based assays) and in vivo; validation of targets using mouse genetics; and/or generation of DNA vectors.
  • Uses genetically engineered mouse models, primary human tissues, 3-dimensional organoids, and high resolution microscopy to uncover the biological mechanisms that underpin endometrial regeneration.
  • Applies and analyzes data from next generation sequencing technologies for the study of transcriptomics in bulk- and single cells.
  • Performs molecular biology and vector construction; mouse colony management, mammalian cell culture CRISPR/Cas9; and/or generation and analysis of mouse knockouts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Applicant should demonstrate an ability for public speaking and scientific communication.
  • Candidate must have excellent record keeping habits and maintain well-organized, complete reports of laboratory activities.
  • Applicant must have expertise writing, editing, and revising scientific manuscripts for publication.
  • Candidate must be willing to train, teach, and mentor young scientists.
  • Candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
