Job Description

Summary

We are seeking a Physician Billing Specialist I who is detail oriented, enjoys working as a team and independently in a fast paced environment. The ideal candidate will have some experience with physician billing, which includes patients registration, and must be able to maintain the security of patient information, complying with HIPAA regulations. Some of the responsibilities include data entry, maintaining  Pre-A/R workqueues, and performing other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Duties

  • Monitors and maintains work queues (registrations, self-pay, Medicaid found, customer service, and others).
  • Assists with missing surgery reports (spreadsheet).
  • Enters patient registrations and other data.
  • Assists with charge corrections.
  • Handles special projects.
  • Assists co-workers when needed.
  • Reviews operative notes to determined if ready for processing.
  • Works closely with varies departments to get missing information for billing.
  • Looks up information in various insurance portals.
  • Assists with entering a large amount of charges from billing sheets into Epic system.
  • Resolves patient billing issues.
  • Follows up on commercial insurance.
  • Verifies Medicare and Medicaid is active monthly.
  • Resolves patient reconciliations reports.
  • Assists with helping departments meet monthly goals and deadlines, responds to department e-mails in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Six months of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with computers.
