The Dental College of Georgia (DCG) at Augusta University (AU) seeks a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor of Oral Radiology. This position reports to the Chair of the Department of Oral Biology & Diagnostic Sciences (OBDS). Responsibilities will include pre-doctoral and post-doctoral education in Oral Radiology and related oral diagnostic disciplines, research & scholarship, patient care, and institutional & professional service. The tenure track (on tenure track or not on tenure track) of this position will be determined based on experience.

Responsibilities

Teaching - 60%
Participate in teaching radiology for didactic courses, pre-clinical laboratory course, and clinical radiology education for the undergraduate DMD curriculum. Participate in teaching radiology for didactic courses for the advanced education residency programs. Provide clinical education for the advanced education residency programs through consults and CBCT.

Scholarship/Research - 15%
Participate in research and scholarship activities to help advance the knowledge of oral and maxillofacial radiology and Augusta University.

Service - 10%
Participate in committee service activities that support the Dental College of Georgia and Augusta University. Participate in service activities that promote the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.

Clinical/Patient Care - 15%
Participate in the Augusta University Dental Associates (AUDA) faculty practice through CBCT interpretation services.

Required Qualifications

DMD or DDS degree or foreign degree equivalent.

Must have minimum of two years postgraduate training in CODA/ADA accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology residency program.

Must have one year advanced education in general dentistry (AEGD) program. Must be eligible for licensure by the Georgia Board of Dentistry.

Certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (OMFR) from a CODA-accredited residency program.

Minimum two years experience as a general dentist.

Eligible for board certification in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.

Advanced knowledge in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology is required.

Good communication and interpersonal skills are required.

Ability to contribute to research in radiology and provide interpretative services for dental imaging including CBCT.

Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.

Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following requirements.

Professor: Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor with the background, education, and training consistent with the following requirements.



Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher;
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
