Summary

Seeking to hire an entry-level biostatistician to join the behavioral and physical activity research group in the Biostatistics and Data Research unit, Children’s Nutrition Research Center (CNRC). Oversees and participates in the collection, analysis and reporting of statistical data.

Job Duties

  • Performs duties under the guidance and supervision of a senior biostatistician
  • Assists senior biostatisticians in performing mathematical statistical work covering a variety of statistical methods, background research, and analysis
  • Implements data management tasks and study documentation procedures.
  • Assists with interpretation of results including significant factors, relationships, and trends.
  • Writes technical reports on findings of statistical investigations.
  • Assists with dissemination of mathematical or statistical concepts to non-statistical audience
  • Stays current with knowledge related to the analytical methods needed to analyze different types of data formats and structures. Stay current with statistical programing and ability to use different software to address the increasing complexity of health-related data
  • Utilizes quantitative and qualitative data to discover, validate, and enhance the Biostatistics and Data Research unit to benefit the CNRC research and methods development portfolio.
  • Has strong communication skills
  • Participates in research and evaluation studies to develop methodology by refining current methods, integrating different methods, or creating novel methods
  • Is fluent with data and data structures from various sources; able to conduct quality control, query, analyze, and report results to answer relevant research questions.
  • Applies measurement and analytical best practices to solve real world statistical challenges
  • Has experience with basic data analytical techniques including descriptive summaries, data visualization, t-test, ANOVA, their non-parametric analogues, chi-square, correlation, as well as intermediate modeling approaches, including but not limited to linear regression, logistic regression, generalized linear models.
  • Conducts literature reviews pertinent to study design or statistical concepts
  • Has working knowledge in predictive and/or machine learning statistics including, but not limited to multi-level regression, semi-parametric models, latent variable modeling, and multivariate analysis.
  • Is comfortable with joining interdisciplinary project teams and provide technical support as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Biostatistics or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
