What Your Job Will Be Like: We are seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee to conduct experimental electrochemical materials science research and development for energy storage research. If you are passionate about research in these areas, consider this opportunity to become a Postdoctoral Appointee, where you will collaborate with accomplished scientists and use industry-leading equipment and facilities and gain compelling experiences in preparation for a career in this exciting area.On any given day, you may be called on to: + Synthesize materials for battery electrodes or electrolytes + Prepare battery electrodes through casting processes + Assemble and/or disassemble coin and pouch sized cells in a glove box or dry room + Test coin or pouch sized cells or test open electrochemical cells + Process data from potentiostat software using Matlab, Excel, or Python + Coordinate, perform, and/or analyze data from materials characterization + Contribute to preparation, publication, and presentation of scientific findings The successful applicant will have opportunity to explore several electrochemical materials hypotheses, contribute to ideas and new hypotheses, and will be encouraged to develop new understanding and electrochemical/characterization methods. Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite. Qualifications We Require: + Possess, or are pursuing, a PhD in a chemistry, materials, physics or engineering or a related field (PhD must be conferred within 5 years prior to employment) + Experience in the field of electrochemistry or electrochemical energy storage + Able to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance Qualifications We Desire: + Experience with electrochemical techniques + Experience with materials in-situ or ex-situ characterization of electrochemical systems (especially desired is experience with nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy) + Experience making and testing batteries (coin, pouch, etc.) + Experience with battery electrode and electrolyte fabrication + Experience with Matlab and/or Python for data analysis + Experience with building custom or in-situ cells About Our Team: The Nanoscale Sciences Department 1874 conducts collaborative groundbreaking research to advance the understanding of materials at the nanoscale and enable the collaborative development of creative solutions for Sandia's broad and evolving National Security and Energy Missions. Security Clearance:

Position Information: This postdoctoral position is a temporary position for up to one year, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to five additional years. The PhD must have been conferred within five years prior to employment. Individuals in postdoctoral positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
