Summary

Dr. Erica Soltero is an assistant professor in the Children’s Nutrition Research Center in the Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine. The focus of the research is implementing community-based diabetes prevention programs for Hispanic youth and families. This work involves behavioral studies to investigate the influence of physical activity and sedentary behaviors on the development and prevention of type 2 diabetes. It also includes qualitative work focused on identifying social determinants of health that influence diabetes risk in Hispanic youth and families. Dr. Soltero is currently seeking to hire a laboratory helper who will participate in daily research activities which include a variety of job duties centered on development of project materials, assisting with scholarly work, data entries, and working collaboratively with the research team in her lab and community partners.

Job Duties

  • Enters data into appropriate databases.
  • Executes and edits queries.
  • Assists with development and management of datasets in REDCap.
  • Develops data assessment protocols.
  • Develops system for data entry and proofing.
  • Conducts preliminary analysis for reports and processes evaluation that includesdescriptives, demographic tables, and preliminary findings.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • No experience required.
