Job Summary

The Associate Athletic Trainer is responsible for coordinating and assisting with the Augusta University Sports Medicine program.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

RESPONSIBLE FOR RECOGNIZING, TREATING, REHABILITATING AND PROVIDING EMERGENCY CARE AND FIRST AID FOR INJURIES AND ILLNESSES TO INTERCOLLEGIATE STUDENT-ATHLETES OF ASSIGNED SPORT(S): Provide athletic training coverage at practices and games (including travel) of assigned sport(s). Evaluate acute and chronic injuries, fabricate protective equipment, and provide daily treatment. Refer and/or transport student-athletes to the emergency room if the team physician or Assistant AD for Sports Medicine cannot be contacted in emergency situations. Coordinates scheduling of medical appointments and transportation for student-athletes. Implement prevention and rehabilitation programs for athletes. Maintain detailed and current medical records. Educate athletes on injury prevention, management, and return to play.

ASSIST WITH THE PROCESSING OF MEDICAL INSURANCE CLAIMS AND RELATED INFORMATION: Assist with coordinating student-athlete health insurance.

MAINTAIN COLLABORATIVE PROFESSIONAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Maintain Collaborative Professional Working Relationships with Administrators and Coaches in the Department, Other College Offices, and Appropriate Relationships with Members of the AU Sports Medicine Staff and Other Individuals Involved with NCAA Athletics Programs.

KNOW, RECOGNIZE, AND COMPLY WITH THE LAWS, POLICIES, RULES, AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING AU, ITS EMPLOYEES, AND THE RULES OF THE NCAA AND AFFILIATED CONFERENCES: Maintains confidentiality to include, but not limited to, information, files, and records that the incumbent may obtain or possess, in accordance with federal and state laws and AU policies.

ASSIST WITH OPERATING, SUPERVISING AND MAINTAINING THE ATHLETIC TRAINING FACILITY AND EQUIPMENT: Assist with Inventory, purchasing, budgeting, and restocking medical supplies and equipment.

OTHER DUTIES: Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with three to five years experience. Certified Athletic Trainer (NATA)

Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Monday-Friday (work outside of normal hours may be required)

Pay Grade: 18

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
