Job Summary
The main purpose of this position is to perform Information Desk duties, stack maintenance, and other support tasks in Access Services.
Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
CIRCULATION AND OTHER ACCESS SERVICES: Provide circulation and other access services to AU faculty, staff, students, and community users including Utilizing the integrated library system (ILS) to charge, discharge, and renew library materials with accuracy and efficiency; edit/create patron records; add barcodes to resources/patrons; and other ILS functions. Handle JagCard sales with complete accuracy for fines, fees, charges, and special library cards. Provide accurate basic reference assistance at the Information Desk and logging results in RefAnalytics.
WEEKEND AND EVENING RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform weekend and evening responsibilities. Work one night shift per week and rotate with other Access Services staff members for weekend shifts (or other shifts as needed). Provide guidance to student assistants and/or part-time workers and effectively maintain control of Access Services. Assist Public Safety in a professional and timely fashion in the event of theft and responsibly deal with emergency situations in the event that the Administration Office is closed.
STACKS MAINTENANCE: Maintain order in the stacks. Shelve material according to call numbers without any errors. Retrieve and re-shelve any loose library materials daily. Shelf read for accuracy in assigned stack area as needed. Shift library materials as required.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED: Perform other duties as assigned to ensure provision of efficient library services and programming
Required Qualifications
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization. Previous library experience OR general clerical/customer service experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with library standards and procedures. Experience with ALMA, GIL-Find Online Catalog, GIL Express, GALILEO, WorldCat/OCLC, and ILLiad/Odyssey/Ariel
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and customer service skills.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to multi-task effectively and with flexibility in a dynamic working environment.
Ability to work efficiently, independently, and collaboratively.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Part-Time(Evening Mon-Fri, or other shifts as needed)
Pay Grade: 2
Salary: $15.00/hourly
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
