Job Summary

The Operations Assistant will report to the Associate Director, Business & Systems Operations of Residence Life and will work collaboratively to provide support for the business operations of the Center for Residence Life. This position is responsible for the operational management of the Residence Life facilities within the Residential Communities at RIT.



Job Responsibilities

This position will support and prioritize facility operations, logistics and reservations for programs, activities, and services. Included within the operations and logistics responsibilities are the management and coordination of key/swipe access control, scheduling, and coordination with FMS and Auxiliary Services for custodial and maintenance issues. To achieve the goals of Residence Life, the Operations Assistant must be able work closely and collaboratively with multiple levels of institutional administration, staff, and students from across the University. This position requires a dynamic individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, as well as strong administrative, organizational and problem-solving skills.


Required Qualifications

Education/Experience
Associate degree in education, public administration, business or a related field or equivalent experience
1-2 Years of experience in facilities and/or College operations and coordination, including as part of a graduate assistantship/internship.
Skills:
Effective interpersonal, written, and electronic communications skills, including the ability to convey complex information in accessible terms to diverse or multicultural audiences.
Ability to establish, build and maintain effective working relationships based on respect, empathy and honesty with diverse groups and individuals.
Ability to manage and maintain confidential and private information; uses confidential, sensitive and/or private records and information, protects information appropriately.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, strong attention to detail and bring processes to closure by set deadlines
Experience using technology and systems to support administrative, operation and program functions
Ability to work autonomously and with frequent interruptions
Knowledge of Deaf culture, American Sign Language (ASL), or willingness to learn.
Ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in complex situations with competing priorities.
Ability to maintain attention to detail and task completion in a fast-paced, student focused environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Manage both the EMS and Lenel systems on behalf of the Center for Residence Life.
Oversee all access for key/swipe permissions for the managed spaces.
Support the CRL and Housing Operations in managing room turn and ineligible checks within the residence halls and apartments.
Lead all daily checks of spaces and create and follow up on tickets for all issues including but not limited to technology, custodial, maintenance, work orders, supply orders, etc.
Manage, in collaboration with campus partners, the process for abandoned laundry.
Oversee digital display checks and programming.
