Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator, or designee, the Research Associate I performs a variety of routine and increasingly complex research experiments.

Assist in the implementation of RNA based therapies targeting cancer and HIV.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Ability to carry out cell culture experiments using transfection agents and RNA isolation to perform RT PCR experiments.
  • Willingness to learn animal handling and testing with humanized mouse models.
  • Utilizing laboratory equipment and established protocols, performs a variety of research experiments. Records and validates results for accuracy and completeness.
  • May modify protocols and write standard operating procedures and reports.
  • Maintains records of work performed including results and methodology; utilizing records may calculate, graph and compile data.
  • Develops techniques and expertise in one or more areas relevant to laboratory research projects.
  • Ensures that all laboratory activities are carried out in compliance with safety procedures and guidelines in handling, storage, and disposal of materials.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences.
  • 0-2 years of research/laboratory experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biological science preferred.
  • Master’s degree in biology or related disciplines such as biochemistry, or cell biology is preferred.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $25.13 - $29.15 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
