The Dance department is seeking an instructor for DANCE 112 West African Dance in the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 terms.
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9:50 - 11:20 AM
This course will be taught in person, on campus.
COURSE DESCRIPTION Course Description: This course will be taught in person, on campus. This course introduces students to the art of West African dancing from Ghana as well as providing the necessary skills
and understanding for an appreciation of the artistic, athletic, and social qualities of dance. Throughout the course, students will learn various concepts surrounding dance including music, history of dance, culture, etiquette, and application in social settings as well as stage
performances.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have several years of experience teaching West African Dance at the college level and be able to serve as the accompanist for the class as well.
Applicants must reside in California.
Salary: $2,482 - $3,436 depending on qualifications
The salary range for this position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
