The Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center is the single largest investment in a cybersecurity facility in the nation to date. The $100 million facility will help to fill the current and growing shortage of cybersecurity talent in the state and nation. The Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center represents a unique public/private partnership that includes Augusta University, Augusta Technical College, the University System of Georgia's research institutions, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and other state, federal, and private-sector partners working together to meet this workforce demand and to innovate, train, and strengthen defenses. The state-of-the-art Center is located in the growing cybersecurity corridor in Augusta, Georgia, that is also home to the U.S. Army Cyber Command and Cyber School of Excellence at Fort Gordon. The Center is located on the downtown campus of Augusta University and houses the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences.

Job Summary

The Cyber Range Architect will be responsible to work with, train, and guide others in the installation, configuration, administration and troubleshooting of Redhat OpenStack on the Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center Cyber Range. The position will actively maintain code, file bug reports, patch and maintain systems, write documentation, and provide troubleshooting support for the deployment.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

WORK, TRAIN & GUIDE OTHERS: Work with, train, and guide others in the installation, configuration, administration and troubleshooting of a OpenStack deployment with Ceph for storage. This includes working with OpenStack architecture components to include (but not limited to) dashboard, computer, block storage, networking, image services, object storage, orchestration and identify services.

MAINTENANCE & DESIGN LEAD: Oversee and lead in the maintenance of design and implementations of Spine/Leaf connectivity, L2/L3 setup on leading vendor networking equipment leveraging configuration management tools, security appliance management and configuration and 1Pv6 Networking. The position will also work with software defined networking, particularly as related to the various ml2 neutron plugins and the underlay/overlay networking model.

PARTICIPATION & SUPPORT: Contribute to the code, documentation, and support of the deployment. This may include travel to and participation in training and events.

COLLABORTATION: Collaborate with IT Security to implement cloud-related security and compliance policies. Within the OpenStack infrastructure, provide user access roles, standards, and work with template deployments to meet customers' needs.

IMPLEMENTATION: Implement DevOps business practices particularly with regards to applying the software development lifecycle to system management (github flow, Cl/CD, etc.). Use git as a documentation repository in conjunction with a system management/configuration tool, such as Ansible, Saltstack, Puppet, Chef or others.

ANALYSIS OF CAUSES & PREVENTION: Perform and document for Root Cause Analysis including providing recommendations to prevent reoccurrence of the issue. The position will be responsible for clearly describing an issue, a root cause, and next steps to multiple audiences (both technical and nontechnical). This will include the use of Python to debug stack traces in the various OpenStack projects and assist in identifying and applying patches.

OTHERS: Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT/Cyber related field and 2 years experience working in Linux environments in large/enterprise.

Preferred Qualifications

At least one year experience working in network underlays; Certifications in any of the following: RedHat, Cisco, Juniper, GIAC or LPI; Two years' experience in sizing, optimizing, and deploying the hardware required to run Ceph and OpenStack

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGEProficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Configuration management tool experience (such as Ansible, Saltstack, Puppet, Chef or other) SKILLS
Must have working experience with Python
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Experience working on a large/enterprise OpenStack deployment
Experience using git and code repositories and implementing application, network and data link layer protocols, such as TCP/IP, DNS and HTTPS. ABILITIES

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days/M-F (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)

Pay Grade: 27

Salary: Minimum $100,000/annual - Midpoint $160,000/ annual

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum midpoint) of the position.
