Job Summary
The Campus Services Supervisor III performs administrative and supervisory work managing personnel assigned to Custodial Services. Responsibilities also include multi-shift operations and for functions covering facilities and buildings in a large geographical area. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.

Duties & Responsibilities
Plans, assigns, and reviews the work of subordinates engaged in supervising employees on assigned shifts performing routine and specialized tasks
Prepares work schedules and assigns employees or supervisors to work areas; assists supervisors in planning work and schedules
Reviews operational problems and determines corrective action
Ensures maximum effective use of time, labor, and materials
Coordinates and supervises training programs
Identifies vendors for appropriate product/equipment selection and parallels employee training
Makes recommendations concerning the selection and procurement of supplies and equipment, maintains budget and inventory records, and prepares reports concerning operations
Administers building and grounds inspections to assure safety and cleanliness
Maintains relevant OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) records
Provides emergency preparedness leadership
Performs other duties as assigned




Minimum Requirements
Bachelors Degree in an appropriate field from a regionally accredited institution and six (6) years of management experience within a large facility associated with custodial services, facilities management, or related area; or Master’s degree and two (2) years of management experience within a large facility associated with custodial services, facilities management, or related area
Knowledge of MDC policies and procedures, goals and objectives and knowledge of the College’s on-line system
Ability to demonstrate management skills in personnel recruitment, training, and evaluation
Knowledge of OSHA and MSDS safety measures applicable to College operations
Knowledge of housekeeping methods, materials and equipment
Working knowledge in budget management and inventory control
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, other software, and database computer applications to generate department computer reports
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from top management, groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to express ideas and instructions clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
Ability to coordinate several tasks at the same time
Ability to analyze and utilize effective time-management skills with labor requirements to obtain highest utilization
Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule to include various shifts, weekends, and holidays; as well as, perform on-call and respond to after-hour emergencies
Ability to work and communicate in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment with diverse community skill sets, students, faculty, and staff


Essential Position
This function/position has been designated as critical. This means that it has job duties that affect the security, safety or physical operation of the College, and are required to work at the Emergency Operations Center and/or have access to the incident scene once normal campus operations have been suspended.
