College/Department Information

Parking and Transportation implements the university's parking plan and manages vehicle registration, permit issuance, lot enforcement, fine collection, citation appeal, lot scheduling for special events, and guest parking permit issuance. We also provide campus shuttle services and bus charters for student organizations and university departments.

Job Summary

Performs duties pertaining to assisting individuals park their vehicles on campus in a safe and proper manner, Including monitoring and patrolling parking lots, Identifying violators of parking rules, writing and processing citations, answering telephones, helping customers, operating parking booths, reserving parking spaces on campus, counting and reports lot utilizations, and directing customers to available parking spaces.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Monitor and patrol assigned area for compliance with parking rules and regulations. Issue citations and/or warnings for violations as necessary using electronic handled ticket writers or handwritten tickets.
  • Operate parking lot equipment including collection booth for pay parking lots; resolve entry/exit issues; answer service calls for lot entry/exit.
  • Install vehicle immobilization equipment in accordance with departmental procedure; respond to calls for reserved parking violations; assist in coordinating the towing and removal of vehicles from campus.
  • Write daily reports regarding parking lots, noting repairs to signs, number of spaces available in each lot for utilization reports, and other functions relating to lot/deck conditions.
  • Support special event activity on campus as required for parking access control; place cones, signs, or other parking control devices for daily operations or special events.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience

Experience in a parking operation and knowledge of common parking operation practices.

ABILITIES

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
