Job Summary

The Director, Broadcast Media provides leadership for and directs studio and live academic and athletic event broadcast/livestream productions to help elevate the Augusta University brand, while also providing student broadcast training opportunities in studio and at academic and athletic events. The position is responsible for supervising a team of full-time employees and part-time student employees, as well as for broadcast/livestream planning, budget management, equipment purchase, collaborating with peers in Information Technology, and providing counsel and advice to university units seeking broadcast/livestream production. The position is also responsible for engineering and physical assembly of broadcasting equipment, and providing technical and instructional student support.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Provides leadership for and directs studio and live academic and athletic event broadcast/livestream productions to help elevate the Augusta University brand, while also providing student broadcast training opportunities in studio and at academic and athletic events.
  • Supervises team of full-time employees and part-time student employees, as well as broadcast/livestream planning, budget management, equipment purchase, collaborating with peer staff in Information Technology, and providing counsel and advice to university units seeking broadcast/livestream production.
  • Engineering and physical assembly of broadcasting equipment, technical and instructional student support.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Minimum 7 years of experience engineering, producing and directing broadcasts/livestreams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a higher education academic/athletic event broadcasting/livestreaming highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Comprehensive understanding of the live and produced broadcast development process as well as a previous track record of producing live and produced broadcasts at a network quality level.
Expert level knowledge of video switchers, engineering of video broadcasting systems, broadcasting cameras, engineering troubleshooting of video networks, computer video editors, streaming systems using Tricaster and WireCast programs and connecting and managing with NDI. Expert level knowledge of broadcasting Tricaster and Ross switchers, and troubleshooting complex video broadcasting systems while live, including but not limited to digital audio routing and talkback systems. Understanding of professional audio, ProTools and Logic. Expert level experience with LIVEU systems and streaming systems connecting Facebook, YouTube and BlueFrame. Ability to maintain confidentiality; Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and critical thinking skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

Shift/Salary/Benefits



Pay Grade: 23

Salary Minimum: $69,398 - Midpoint: $93,687

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
