General Information:

James Madison University is currently accepting applications for a Reporting and BI Analyst.



Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop, maintain, and improves systems and procedures related to the production, processing and delivery of analytic reports and studies. Manage deadlines, collaboration, and planning necessary to complete both Ad Hoc and Project Based analytics reports using data exploration toolsets including SQL, Oracle Data Warehouse and BI platforms such as Cognos and Tableau. Utilized external datasets for comparative and compliance reporting, develop dashboards to support data distribution and decision making within University Advancement and associated campus partners. Maintain, optimize and develop database objects (Functions, Transformation Tables, Procedures) related to the data warehouse. Work collaboratively with internal team and senior administration to continuously improve reporting resources and processes.



Qualifications:

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related discipline with at least 2 years of experience in technology and database systems.
• Relevant experience in database management and/or data warehouses with ability to program in SQL, Python, and/or R for decision support and reporting services.
• Experience in collecting requirements from stakeholders and understand their needs.
• Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, complex technical information, while providing analytical solutions that consider the intricate interactions of business processes, systems, databases, and data warehouse objects.
• Relevant experience working in a higher education setting with knowledge of student-related data.
• Understanding of data modeling and data warehousing with experience building data analytic reports and visualizations.
• Ability to work with data and people from multiple sources/departments while embracing Advancement Information Services (AIS) values of collaboration, quality, innovation and integrity.
• Demonstrated organizational skills, flexibility, good judgement, teamwork, attention to detail, problem-solving, life-long learning, and initiative.
