College/Department Information

Within the Department of Ophthalmology at the Medical College of Georgia, our top priority is the provision of thorough and compassionate patient care. Within our department you will find doctors who are interested in matching your concerns with accurate diagnoses and treatments. We seek not only to provide the right treatment, but also to educate you in regard to your condition so that you too may be involved in its management. Our educational mission is broadly focused. Upon completion of the 3-year course of instruction our residents are able to enter comprehensive ophthalmic practice or pursue fellowship training. Through continuing medical education activities, the local ophthalmic community as well as our team of eye care providers are given opportunities to discuss and implement recent advances in the medical and surgical care of the eye.

Job Summary

Primary duties are to plan and conduct research. May include things managing data, conducting interviews and publishing research. Must be able to interpret data or findings in an actionable way, with the goal being to inform businesses about which decisions they should make.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Plan and conduct research.
  • Analyze and interpret data.
  • Present research findings via presentations, journals manuscripts, etc.
  • Work with administrative staff to order laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Train and orient team members.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory particularly clinical trial research; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' research and/or clinical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities



Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

SKILLS

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Excellent customer service, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.

ABILITIES

Ability to maintain confidentiality, coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines despite often interruptions, keep accurate records, and make independent decisions.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).

Salary: $36,197-$50,675 annually.

Pay Grade: R14

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
