Ball State University is seeking a full-time, non-tenure-track position for an Assistant Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of English to teach four classes each semester, primarily in English Education courses, but also in one or more of the following areas (depending on faculty expertise and departmental needs): first-year writing, African American Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies, creative writing, literature (including YA literature), applied linguistics, professional writing. This position will be a one-year contract with possibility of renewal.

Ball State University is seeking a full-time, non-tenure-track position for an Assistant Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of English to teach four classes each semester, primarily in English Education courses, but also in one or more of the following areas (depending on faculty expertise and departmental needs): first-year writing, African American Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies, creative writing, literature (including YA literature), applied linguistics, professional writing. This position will be a one-year contract with possibility of renewal.

Minimum Experience:

Master’s degree in English, Education, or related field from an accredited college or university by date of appointment; record of effective teaching, including at least three years of experience teaching English/ Language Arts at the secondary level. Other related service or employment, such as substitute teaching, in-service work with teachers, teaching at the college level, or on-site classroom research, may be substituted for one of the three years of teaching experience.

Preferred Experience:

Earned doctorate in English, Education, or related field from an accredited college or university by date of appointment; teaching experience at the college or university level, including teaching dual credit courses at the secondary level; record of scholarship, including publication and/or presentation in primary area(s) of scholarship; record of service in relevant English/Language Arts associations; experience supervising student teachers; license to teach English/Language Arts at the secondary level; record of building successful partnerships with K-12 schools; Experience with teaching or scholarship in (or demonstrable commitment to) diversity, equity, and inclusion.
