We do this by identifying, connecting, and engaging alumni and friends around the globe with their passions to advance the vision and priorities of the university.

Position Summary
The Senior Associate Vice President for Development (SAVP) will serve as a member of the Vice President for University Advancement’s senior management team, working closely with leadership team members to evaluate development priorities and recommend strategies to meet the university’s fundraising priorities.

Reporting directly to the Vice President for University Advancement (VP-UA) and working closely with the deans and university leadership and the VP-UA, the SAVP will directly oversee and provide leadership, counsel, and strategic direction for the majority of fundraising for the University of Oregon. This includes:
• Academic (school and college) unit based and cultural fundraising programs (including the Ballmer Institute for Children’s Behavioral Health (BICBH)).
• Building a US-based regional and international fundraising effort for all level gifts.
• Central university fundraising priorities and initiatives (gift planning, corporate and foundation relations, annual giving, family, and parent giving)

The SAVP will coordinate closely with the VP and others in University Advancement on campaign planning and execution, and principal gift program strategy and fundraising.

As a member of the University Advancement senior management team, the SAVP will be the primary delegated representative for the VP-UA when necessary.

In addition, the SAVP will manage a portfolio of $1M plus rated prospects for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of gifts.

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience.
• Ten years of progressively responsible development experience, including extensive experience in prospect identification, cultivation, and major gift solicitation in higher education or equally complex institution.
• Five years of supervisory experience including hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating work, and managing supervisors and teams across portfolios.

• Demonstrated ability to provide management oversight, including establishing metrics and processes to monitor and evaluate operational performance outcomes.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including writing and presentation abilities.
• Ability to interact, communicate, and work effectively with individuals to build strong cooperative working relationships, recognizing and respecting the many and varied identities of each person.
• Commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• The ability to effectively interact with high-level donors, maintaining a high level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
• Excellent organizational skills, strong sense of financial accountability, and the ability to manage resources with prudence and efficiency.
• Familiarity with both centralized and decentralized development programs.
• Proficient in the use of personal computers and routine software applications.
• Ability to travel.

Preferred Qualifications
• Significant experience in higher education development.
• An understanding of the nature of a professional school and research university.
• Advanced degree.
