Position Summary
The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at the University of Georgia seeks applicants for the position of Human Resources Specialist. The HR Specialist is responsible for all faculty and staff and student hiring, onboarding, payroll, and coordinating and managing all Visa applications for new hires, visiting scholars, and scientists for CVM Centers . Additionally, the HR Specialist may provide administrative support for the department, including preparation of promotion dossiers, search related travel arrangements, and reimbursement requests.

Basic computer skills and experience with MS Word and Excel.
Ability to multi-task.

Duties/Responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities
Responsible for creation and posting of all staff and student positions for CVM centers.
Responsible for screening all applicants, providing search committee with qualified applicants, and coordinating interview schedules.
Prepares all documentation for hiring proposals, confirming salary information with the Business Manager and confirms start date with Human Resources.
Once the hiring proposal, including background check has been approved, this position communicates all on-boarding procedures to the applicant.
Provides orientation for all new hires including faculty, staff, and students.
Maintains and updates the Centers’ organizational chart, departmental directory, and coordinates collection of faculty and staff performance evaluations.
Maintains employment records related to hiring, terminations, workers compensation, leave, and promotions.
May coordinate the recruiting efforts for new faculty hiring initiatives including collecting all application materials, reference letters and educational documents, arranging & coordinating applicant travel and interview schedules as well as reimbursement of travel expenses.
May assist in preparing promotion dossiers and graduate faculty appointments.
