Summary

The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at Baylor College of Medicine is looking for a Coordinator, Clinical Research to work on a nationwide clinical research study called the Rare and Atypical Diabetes Network (RADIANT).  The RADIANT study enrolls pediatric and adult participants with rare or atypical form of diabetes. This is an opening for a highly motivated individual looking to be involved in a productive research team.


Daily activities include screening and recruiting research participants, collecting, documenting, and organizing study data, and facilitating study visits with research participants. The research coordinator should have excellent communication skills since study participants may be recruited in-person, via phone, or email. The research coordinator will also be responsible for completing relevant study documents, maintaining research charts, providing study updates, and completing study progress reports. Interested individuals may have the opportunity to utilize or develop numerous skills including data analysis, literature review, project management or various clinical skills including phlebotomy.

Job Duties

  • Interviews, screen and recruits patients for study; explains process and procedures to educate participant regarding the research study.
  • Assists study participants with navigation throughout the study stages.
  • Collects participant information; processes documents and enters information into a database. May perform venipuncture (blood draws), collect vital signs, and biometric information on study participants.
  • Collects, process, ship, and maintain paperwork for blood and/or biological specimens according to procedures outlined in study protocol.
  • Maintains participant files, study records, and regulatory documents for the research study.
  • Coordinates meetings with local research team to facilitate study progress.
  • Schedules study participants for research visits.
  • Retrieves and submits test results to appropriate party.
  • May orders supplies and equipment.
  • Supports principal investigator and research team in planning and coordinating research activities.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Familiarity with medical conditions is desirable.
  • Bilingual (Spanish), preferred but not required.
  • Experience with collection, processing and shipping biologic specimens preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with electronic data systems
  • Good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
