If so, the HR Talent Management team is currently looking for a passionate Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) who can enable business success through creative thinking, strategic partnerships, and strong relationships as a trusted advisor! Sandia National Laboratories has been on a multi-year journey to transform how it provides Human Resources (HR) services with HRBPs playing a key role in that transformation.

As an HRBP, one will provide full spectrum HR consultation, partnering closely with management and HR subject matter experts to solve organizational challenges through people-related solutions. They will create and implement the end-to-end human capital strategy to support the business in meeting its goals.Candidates applying on this requisition may be interviewed and/or hired into supporting one of several organizations at Sandia National Laboratories.

On any given day, one may be called upon to:

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the business strategy to provide expert insight and leadership into organizational effectiveness, talent planning, and development
  • Apply people analytics to empower business leaders to make data driven decisions by communicating workforce risks, analyzing workforce trends, and identify future opportunities
  • Mentor business leaders on leading and managing through times of change or difficult employee matters
  • Act as a change agent to the business and design processes and approaches to prepare the organization for ongoing change and transformation
  • Champion diversity and inclusion
  • Provide problem solving consultation to management and employees on a wide variety of topics
  • Partner with line organizations/management to help define talent needs and workforce plans
  • Drive the department's talent agenda for ensuring thoughtful assessment, development, and goal setting
  • Guide management in annual performance and compensation programs
  • Provide HR project leadership on significant business events within the company, division, center, or group
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to effectively drive the design, implementation, communication, management, and improvement of HR programs and initiatives
  • Identify, recommend, and craft innovative approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in the department and in services performed

The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

Qualifications We Require:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or another closely related field, plus 5 years direct professional (exempt) HR experience; or equivalent experience and/or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job
  • Demonstrated experience in Human Resources theories, principles, and practices, as well as knowledge of federal and state labor laws
  • The ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • A SHRM-SCP/SHRM-CP certification or an HRCI certification (SPHR/PHR)
  • An understanding of HR as an interrelated system of functional operations
  • Experience mentoring, influencing, facilitating, presenting, and developing processes and analyzing/problem solving
  • The ability to thought partner and provide strategic direction to mission partners
  • Strong planning and project management skills
  • Strong analytical skills and proven competence in resolving simple and sophisticated HR and organizational issues
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience preparing and presenting effective verbal and written reports
  • Experience supporting customers in Engineering/Science fields
  • The ability to balance competing priorities in both strategic and day-to-day service delivery
  • An active DOE Q-level security clearance; or other equivalent active security clearance such as DOD Top Secret

About Our Team:

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) Team is responsible for aligning business objectives with customers and leadership across Sandia Labs. We serve as a consultant to management on human resources-related issues and proactively communicate customer needs for cohesive solutions. We also formulate partnerships across the HR functioning units to deliver value-added services and a futuristic approach to problem solving to meet the needs of the organization’s customers.

Posting Duration:

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Position Information:

This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.

Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.

Salary Range:

$78,000 - $150,000

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
