The Kevin T. Crofton Department of Aerospace and Ocean Engineering is seeking a self-motivated and team driven individual to serve as our Program Support Technician. This position frequently interacts with faculty, staff and students, and will be the first point of contact for the department. The Program Support Technician will perform administrative and financial duties directly for the AOE department and complete a number of related assignments. This position will manage all travel organization including coordination of flights, fleet services, and all travel reimbursements. The Program Support Technician will also help support post-award activities for the department including assistance to faculty with spending plans, balance spreadsheets, and financial management of research funds. The position will support the AOE Department Head with calendar scheduling, letter preparation, and meeting polls. The position will be responsible for answering and forwarding incoming calls, completing department reimbursements, assisting the department with surplus requests, processing mail and incoming/outgoing shipments, key distribution, and other routine office duties. The Program Support Technician is responsible for independently managing key annual department documents for Promotion & Tenure and will analyze data from annual Faculty Activity Reports. The Program Support Technician must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a strong work ethic, exceptional customer service, and ability to excel in a team environment. The ideal candidate must be professional, organized, flexible, self-directed, strong people skills, and be an effective communicator.

Required Qualifications

Experience providing administrative support and office management in a professional office or academic environment. Proficient in general computer skills such as excel, word processing, email, and calendar management. Must be highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a demanding environment. Ability to work collaboratively in a team atmosphere, demonstrate discretion in working with confidential information and use sound judgment in decision making. Professional communication skills and ability to interact effectively with all individuals in a diverse multicultural environment. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent related experience. Knowledge of the University's accounting process; proficiency with Banner, HokieMart, and Chrome River. Experience in accounting and working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
