Nature of Work
Principal duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to): technical and analytical tasks focused on supporting Information System Security of Peru State College’s computing, networking, and data storage facilities. This includes understanding, tracking, and analyzing data systems and their interfaces, with careful attention to security and risk management. Support the security training, documentation, set-up, testing, and reporting required. Work with functional and technical staff to manage, develop, and ensure the security and integrity of the data processes and systems. Liaison with the statewide system security administration team, analyze and understand the functional relationships between various (areas) modules in the various systems, assist with security planning, development and ongoing support and maintenance of support system security processes, understand business processes, and resolve system security issues. Administer and maintain the Peru State College Information Security Program. Assist with module security updates based on regulatory releases, software defect management, module functional support, process oversight and scheduling, and perform ad hoc security testing and reporting. Analyze the information security impact of the software upgrades to current functionality and participate in cross-departmental discussions. This position is exempt with regard to FLSA overtime provisions. This position is covered by the NSCPA bargaining unit.
Examples of Work Performed
Essential Duties:
1. Establish and administer information security processes throughout the Peru State College computing and network infrastructure.
2. Prepare, conduct and administer security training to faculty and staff.
3. Maintain knowledge of current security procedures, threats, vulnerabilities, interventions and defenses.
4. Coordinate with the security support team housed at CSN in Lincoln.
5. Facilitate technical and security process communication between the NeSIS security and administrative functional areas
6. Assist with the documentation of processes and procedures supporting NeSIS security
7. Administer the implementation of the security requirements surrounding NIST SP 800-171.
8. Assume the responsibilities and perform the duties of the NeSIS Security Coordinator for Peru State College.
9. Review and test system upgrades and configuration changes.

Preferred Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field is preferred, or an associate’s degree with computer systems emphasis and 4 years of information system security development and administration experience. Knowledge of the major security standards such as the NIST SP 800 series. Familiarity with and understanding of CISSP knowledge domains. Attention to detail, analytical skills, organizational and problem-solving abilities are required. Excellent customer service and leadership skills desired. Must be able to keep sensitive personal identifiable information confidential and understand the importance of protecting this information. Experience with all current Microsoft Windows server operating systems is required and at least one variant of Unix is required.
