Rider University invites applications for the position of Grant Accountant within the Finance Division.  The Grant Accountant is a vital member of the Accounting Office, working collaboratively with members within the Finance Division, as well as other members of the University to perform day-to-day functions and achieve the strategic goals of the division and University. The Grant Accountant will perform various functions, including but not limited to the oversight of grants management and other restricted fund processes within the Finance Division. The position requires knowledge of regulatory policies, procedures, and guidelines; review/preparation of grant related journal entries and reconciliations; create timely reporting tools on restricted funds for interested parties; assist departments and principal investigators on grant proposals; all in accordance with both University policies and procedures, and generally accepted accounting principles.
 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of 4 years of demonstrated relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in grant accounting, with demonstrated knowledge of regulatory responsibilities for the grantee (Federal, State, Subawards, and Private entities), regulatory policies, procedures, and guidelines. 
  • Experience with G5, Research.Gov, SAM.Gov, FSD.Gov, and other State and Federal reporting portals. 
  • Proficient in Excel and Word
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, communication, and writing skills. 
  • Works well independently, ability to multitask, and is dedicated to meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to team efforts and coalition building. 
  • Analytical, detail oriented, resourceful, and inquisitive.
  • Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required 

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience with Pre-Award and Post-Award Submissions.
  • Experience in non-profit fund accounting.
  • Knowledge of Banner and Cognos.
  • Experience in budgeting.
