Rider University’s Department of Public Safety invites applications for a Corporal who will serve as the Patrol Supervisor for the day shift and will oversee the Student Employee Program for Public Safety.   Among the primary responsibilities will be conducting a systematic patrol of buildings and grounds to protect the contents, occupants and visitors; attending to medical emergencies; regulating parking in designated lot; investigating incidents; and writing and reviewing incident reports in accordance with established policy.

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Must possess a valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record. 
  • Must be at least 21 years of age. 
  • Minimum of two years of security, military, firefighting, or law enforcement experience.
  • Must possess and demonstrate a high degree of dedication, integrity, confidentiality, and objectivity. 
  • Must be able to remain calm and professional under pressure and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Must be willing and able to work non-scheduled and scheduled overtime hours. 
  • The completion of a satisfactory background check is required.
 
This position has been deemed “essential” by the University to ensure the continuation of critical University operations, attend to the needs of students and others, and protect the University’s assets during an emergency or when the University has closed or suspended operations. University employees designated as “essential” personnel must remain on duty or report to work as regularly scheduled to avoid interruption of essential services unless directed or permitted to do otherwise, as indicated by their department supervisor.

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Emergency medical training (i.e. First Responder, EMT) and college degree/courses are preferred. 
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
