Augusta University's Department of Orthodontics at the Dental College of Georgia (DCG) is currently seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor who will also hold an administrative post of Residency Program Director. This individual will be responsible for leading the Orthodontic Residency program in accordance with Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) standards, ensuring the graduation of skilled orthodontists. In addition, the selected candidate will also be expected to provide orthodontic care at the DCG Faculty Practice, support departmental research initiatives, and provide guidance to orthodontic residents and pre-doctoral dental students. This position is not considered to be on tenure track.

Responsibilities

Clinical/Patient Care
Provide patient care according to DCG Faculty Practice Guidelines. Maintain compliance with quality control standards according to DCG and AU policies. If necessary, provide patient care with or without learners present.

Teaching
Direct the residency program in the DCG Department of Orthodontics. Ensure compliance with CODA guidelines that will lead to accreditation without recommendations. Contribute to curriculum innovation and maintenance that ensures a comprehensive and contemporary curriculum for orthodontic residents. Collaborate and support other academic and residency training programs. Support didactic and clinical teaching for predoctoral students in the classroom, laboratory, and clinic. Use an evidence-based approach in all teaching endeavors.

Scholarship
Collaborate with faculty and serve as a mentor to students/residents in research and scholarly activities that lead to presentations and publications in peer reviewed journals. Promote, lead, and participate in scholarly agenda with residents in the Department of Orthodontics that contributes to the mission of the Department and DCG.

Service
Participate in efforts that promote the service goals of the Dental College of GA, Augusta University and the Department of Orthodontics. This may include but is not limited to participation in continuing education, service and leadership on committees, research and service in professional organizations, faculty training and professional development, and serving as reviewer and editor for journals and publications.

Required Qualifications

DMD, DDS, or equivalent.; must be a graduate of an ADA accredited dental school or have 2 years of postgraduate training and be licensed in or eligible for licensure by the Georgia Board of Dentistry.

Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.

Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.

Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor with the background, education, and training consistent with the following requirements.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation.

- Evidence of ability as a teacher.

- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned.

- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,

- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in dental education at the pre-doctoral and advanced levels. History of research and scholarly productivity including grants, presentations, and publications.
Experience as a Residency Director in a CODA accredited orthodontic training program. Experience in the treatment of Cleft lip and palate and craniofacial anomalies.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. This salary is subject to availability of funds.

Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. This salary is subject to availability of funds.

Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. This salary is subject to availability of funds.
