Summary

The primary functions of this position involve design, execution and control of laboratory research studies under the direction of the principal investigator. Candidates for this position should have a strong background in molecular biology, histological analysis and culturing human iPS-derived cardiomyocytes is desired. Individuals with experience in cardiac physiology are also strongly encouraged to apply. The main responsibilities of this position will be to develop, design, and conduct experiments related to the mission of the lab, collect and analyze data, and assist in the preparation of research manuscripts and presentations for publication and conferences. Further responsibilities will include training of laboratory professionals and students, development, and revision of existing research methodologies, and critical analyses of relevant literature. The candidate will also be responsible for the general maintenance and operation of laboratory equipment, as well as troubleshooting instruments and protocols as necessary. Attention to detail and strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills are a must.

Job Duties

  • Plans, directs and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.
  • Evaluates and analyzes data.
  • Establishes new research protocols and procedures.
  • Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals. 
  • Maintains laboratory operations.
  • Supervises research staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of laboratory experience preferably in cardiac physiology. Experience in bioengineering and biomaterial is preferred.
