Position Summary
Positions in this job family support budget and financial functions. Responsibilities include performing work related to accounting, budgeting, reconciliation, contract and grants management, and general fiscal assistance at the centralized administration, department, program, or other organizational unit level.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree required in accounting, business or related field from a regionally accredited college or university.

EXPERIENCE:
2-4 years of related experience in research administration financial analysis; relevant experience reviewing budgets and grant agreements.
Must have extensive knowledge of the general ledger.
Thorough knowledge of pre-and post award administration.
Knowledge of fund accounting principles, and compliance of federal and state rules and regulations.
Skill in interpreting budgets, grants and contracts.
Knowledge of electronic data processing as it applies to fiscal and accounting activities.
Must be detail-oriented, accurate, analytical, and organized; with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Skill in communicating effectively orally and in writing.

Job Duties
Description of Job Duty
Performs advanced professional accounting and budget analysis duties that require independent judgment and initiative.
Responsible for the accurate accounting, financial compliance and timely reporting of post award grants and contracts accounting and financial management activities for the Institution.
Prepares monthly and quarterly Federal Financial Reports (SF-425), cash transactions reports and submits through sponsor electronic systems
Duties include analyzing, recording, and interpreting financial transactions; preparing specialized and standard accounting reports; and, providing information to auditors and other third parties.
Duties include working with and advising principal investigators, conducting research on accounts, and interpreting technical information to grantees.
May recommend policies procedures, and guidelines for the approval of monitoring of grants/contracts.
Computer skills proficient in using higher education or nonprofit administrative products used for Grants and Contracts financial management; proficient with Microsoft Office software, special emphasis on advanced Excel use including pivot tables and advanced financial analysis tools.
