Organizational Unit Overview
Consistent with our overall educational mission to train future physicians in service to the people of North Carolina, the Office of Medical Education (OME) at BSOM was established with the following mission:
To support the teaching faculty and others in the process of providing an accredited program of undergraduate medical education leading to the MD degree
To provide leadership in curriculum development, program evaluation, student assessment and medical education research and scholarship.
To provide career guidance and related educational support services to our medical students and resident physicians, with emphasis on maximizing the overall educational experience and achievement of expected learning outcomes
To work with our academic medical center in creating a variety of opportunities for students across North Carolina to pursue a career in medicine or other health professions
Job Duties
Brody School of Medicine’s Department of Academic Affairs is currently seeking to hire a Course Coordinator to work in the Office of Medical Education unit.
This position works as the instructional coordinator for courses presented to medical students in the foundational phase of their curriculum. This position also works directly with Course Directors to provide administrative and clerical support and information technology support for the foundational science courses. The support extends to lectures, laboratories and simulation exercises. This position will additionally work within the Office of Medical Education to support day-to-day operations.
Minimum Education/Experience
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
License or Certification required by statute or regulation
none
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Previous experience working in higher education is preferred.
